Job summary

A Christian independent school trio in Hillcrest is seeking a skilled bookkeeper with advanced knowledge and experience in accounting systems like Sage Evolution. The successful candidate will manage accounts to balance sheet, supervise staff, and ensure efficient fee collections. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in bookkeeping to balance sheet.

  • Experience with debit orders, preferably Netcash.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for processing accounts to balance sheet.
  • Oversight of a member of staff.
  • Processing monthly school fee debtors accounts and fee collections.
  • Assisting with budget preparation.
  • Involvement in finance matters related to school events.

Waterfall Schools is a trio of Christian independent schools based in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, incorporating Waterfall Pre-Primary, Waterfall Preparatory and Waterfall College, with support from Waterfall Online for extra lessons.

We are looking to recruit a:

  • An advanced knowledge of bookkeeping is essential
  • Experience with Sage Evolution or a similar accounting system is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of bookkeeping to balance sheet
  • Strong computer literacy skills with a sound working knowledge of MS Excel or Google Sheets and MS Word or Google Docs
  • Advanced experience with debt collection and debtors management
  • Experience with debit orders, preferably Netcash
  • Able to communicate and interact well with staff, parents and suppliers
  • Good time management with the ability to work under pressure
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Reporting to the Schools’ Business Manager
  • Full responsibility for processing of accounts to balance sheet
