Bookkeeper job vacancy in Athlone, Cape Town.

Do you have minimum 3 years’ experience as a bookkeeper managing Books to Trial Balance, general ledger, monthly financial processes and assisting management accounts and audit preparation?

Preference is immediately available, and an accounting qualification is required.

This position reports directly to the Director, a great opportunity to learn new skills in their sought-after product range that they supply.

Requirements:

  • Matric, plus qualification
  • Three years’ experience as an accounts assistant
  • Experience working in an accounting firm preparing books to Trial Balance preferred
  • Excellent English verbal & written communication skills, good customer skills & team player
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel and Word
  • Attention to detail/analytical and ability to adapt with good time management skills
  • A pro-active learner who takes responsibility for own development
  • An individual who understands the importance of meeting the business’ needs
  • Experience in Omni accounting software will be advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating and managing the monthly financial processes
  • Update the daily cash book
  • General ledger accounts, ensuring correct allocations
  • Drafting of Quarterly Management Accounts
  • Assisting with creditor and debtor control tasks
  • Banking
  • Managing inter-company transfers
  • Processing of journals
  • Phoning and following up on accounts
  • Managing queries
  • General office administration duties (filing, answering telephone)
  • Assist senior staff with ad-hoc duties
