Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater in South Africa is seeking a qualified Boilermaker Aide/Apprentice/Artisan to provide mechanical services in a mining/plant environment. You will assist with maintenance, installations and construction of workplace facilities, ensuring safety and quality during all tasks.

The role requires NQF 4 with English literacy, N2 Platers theory & drawings, a QTCO-recognised Boilermaker Trade Certificate, and at least 3 years’ experience in a mining/plant setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as Boilermaker aide/apprentice/artisan in mining/plant.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, installations and constructions of workplace facilities to standards and specifications.
• Inspect and ensure quality of all maintenance and construction work.
• Ensure safe, correct use of equipment and machinery; adhere to maintenance schedules.
• Attend to mechanical breakdowns and escalate unresolved issues.
• Document work and manage documentation in line with company policies.
• Maintain stakeholder relations and effective communication across the organisation.
• Participate in risk assessments and SHE compliance activities.

• Section 13 or 26D (completed learnership / apprenticeship) Boilermaker Trade Certificate as recognised by the QTCO.
• At least 3 years' experience as a qualified Boilermaker Aide / Apprentice / Artisan within a mining/plant environment.
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• Clear security screening record.

• Adhere to equipment maintenance, installation and construction of work place facilities to standards and specifications.
• All maintenance, installations and constructions to be inspected and checked for quality purposes.
• Safe, correct and effective application of equipment and machinery utilised during duties.
• Adherence to maintenance schedules.
• Attending to mechanical breakdowns.
• Escalation of unresolved breakdowns or unsuccessful maintenance, installation and constructions.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
• Administration
• Completion of relevant documentation.
• Adherence to document control standards and procedures.
• Provisioning of data and information.
• Safekeeping of documentation.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
• Stakeholder Relations
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
• Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.

• Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.

Additional Requirements

• Valid Fork Lift and Mobile Crane driver's licence will be advantageous.
