Job summary

South African National Blood Service in Johannesburg is seeking a Blood Bank Technologist to perform routine testing in Blood Banks, including compatibility testing, post-natal investigations and preliminary transfusion reaction workups. Qualifications

• HPCSA registration as Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion) is required.
• Overtime and shifts as rostered.
• Night/weekend duties and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine testing in Blood Banks including compatibility testing, post-natal and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations.
• Check and verify test results performed by Registered Blood Bank Technicians, Registered Trainee Technicians and Registered Student Technologists.
• Maintain instrument and laboratory quality, and ensure customer relations and safety standards.
