Job summary

South African National Blood Service invites an experienced Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion) to lead cross-match and blood issuing for the Port Elizabeth unit. You will implement policies, ensure compliance, and interact with hospitals to guarantee safe, timely blood supply.

You will oversee a team, drive quality improvements, conduct staff training, and manage budgets and service delivery in line with the organisation's standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 3 Years’ of Blood Transfusion experience (2 years in supervisory/managerial roles).
• Experience with cross-matching and issuing blood products.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-match and blood issuing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor compliance with SOPs, quality, and safety standards; manage risk and non-conformances.
• Plan, supervise, and develop staff; ensure effective communication and staff welfare.
• Maintain stakeholder engagement with hospitals and clinical teams; drive service excellence.
