Duties
  • COMPETENCES: Knowledge of public service legislation, understanding of expectations of customers, Knowledge of database management, Knowledge of NEMBA, TOPS regulations, CITES interfaces, Knowledge of permit SOPs, Knowledge of provincial wildlife legislation, Conservation Law, Knowledge of departmental policies, Communication skills, Report writing skills, Language skills, Presentation skills, Computer literacy. High ethical standards, confidentiality and ability to give expert testimony. Duties: Conduct site inspections prior to the issuance of permits for activities involving indigenous or exotic species, restricted activities, or listed threatened species. Verify that facilities, enclosures, and management practices meet prescribed biodiversity and animal welfare standards. Attending to complaints and reports of possible contraventions of biodiversity and nature conservation legislation. Contribute technical input to revision of policies, norms and standards and guiding documents for implementers and applicants. Advise internal and external stakeholders on permit requirements, best practice and legal obligations. Coordinate compliance and enforcement follow ups on permit conditions. Provide technical evidence and expert statements for administrative enforcement and criminal cases when requested. Provide administration functions. Compile reports and presentations. Prepare requests for procurement.
