Job summary

Network IT is seeking a BI Specialist/Analyst for a Randburg-based client to design, develop and support enterprise BI reporting and ETL processes.

The role requires a BSc in Computer Science, 3+ years’ experience with SQL, data warehousing and data modeling, and BI tooling knowledge. You will work in a delivery team focused on robust data solutions and user collaboration.

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
• BI certifications desirable.
• 3+ years’ experience implementing enterprise-scale reporting systems, including requirements analysis, SQL and RDBMS, data warehouse implementations, and data modeling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Business analysis to gather BI system requirements.
• Translate requirements into data store/warehouse/data mart design specifications.
• Use ETL tools to load data stores/warehouses/marts.
• Provide support to ensure availability and performance of BI environments.
• Implement configuration management and change controls.
• Ensure data is collected, stored, and analyzed correctly.
• Develop methodologies to improve data analysis.
• Provide technical assistance and cross training to team members.
• Design and implement best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
• Monitor and refine reports and analytical solutions.

BI Specialist/Analyst

My client is a leading Internet Solutions Provider that requires a BI Specialist/Analyst to join their delivery team. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, management and support of mission critical enterprise BI reporting and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
• BI certifications desirable
• 3+ years’ experience implementing enterprise-scale reporting systems, including working with users in a requirements analysis role; extensive use of SQL and RDBMS systems (MySQL, MS SQL Server, etc.); extensive experience with data warehouse implementations; and strong knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts

Responsibilities:

• Business analysis to gather required BI system requirements
• Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to drive data store/data warehouse/data mart design and configuration
• Use ETL tools to load data store(s)/data warehouse(s)/data mart(s)
• Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of enterprise data and BI environments for both external and internal users
• Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for your sphere of influence
• Ensure that data is being correctly gathered, stored, and analyzed
• Develop methodologies to improve data analysis
• Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members
• Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
• Perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports and analytical solutions
• Use current knowledge of business and technology to recommend systems and process improvements
• Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision
