Job summary

A behavioral health treatment center is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to assess client needs and monitor behavior while providing support during their recovery journey. Responsibilities include conducting admissions, documenting client progress, and participating in treatment activities. Ideal candidates will have experience with chemical dependency, valid CPR, and First Aid certifications. This position requires effective communication and the ability to work with diverse populations.

We pride ourselves on having a complete and diverse staff that utilizes their skills to help provide a high‑quality treatment experience. POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for assessing client needs and monitoring behavior while at the program.

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for documenting activities of daily living, caring for clients, helping to coordinate treatment and executing daily programing.

Behavioral Health Technician may assist counselors with crisis management, groups and education, as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Completion of all Behavioral Health Technician duties and/or documentation within Monarch Shores and state mandated timelines.
2. Behavioral Health Technician will conduct client rounds according to state protocols and document appropriately.
3. Responsible to read communication log at beginning of shift and complete their own summary and essential tasks contained therein by conclusion of shift.
4. Complete new admission intake procedures according to Monarch Shores policies on all new admissions (UA, belongings searches, and paperwork).
5. Documentation of daily progress in client charts.
6. Overnight staff to document quantity and quality of sleep in progress notes.
7. Administering detoxification protocols (completion of vital signs and rounds) on all detoxification clients.
8. Crisis intervention.
9. Assist, teach and or supervise clients with general household chores.
10. Monitor the needs and behaviors of clients; Interact with clients and their families and significant others as needed and documents such interactions.
11. Continue to learn about alcohol and/or drug abuse and alcoholism and the principles of recovery.
12. Assist and participate with on‑site activities, support groups, outings and community meetings, as assigned.
13. Establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine the readiness of the individual for treatment and change.
14. Screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.
15. Demonstrate adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
16. Participate in continuing professional development.
17. Maintain facility cleanliness and upkeep of program.
18. Utilize principles of communicable disease prevention and control.
19. Recognize early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance and follow through & report it immediately.
20. Assist in the availability of community services and resources.
21. Recognize individuals under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and documents when needed in communication log and/or an Incident Report.

Qualifications and Preferences
