Overview
The purpose of this position is to assemble and repair lithium-ion & lead-acid batteries and chargers in a cost-efficient manner by using the correct equipment to the required industry and safety standards and to assist with other duties.

To successfully perform this role, the incumbent must be able to carry out each essential duty and key performance area effectively. The responsibilities listed below are not exhaustive and may be adjusted or supplemented in line with business requirements:
- Assemble new batteries, ensuring correct layout and polarity.
- Cut and use packing materials appropriately to secure cells within tanks.
- Place the correct cells into the designated tanks according to machine specifications.
- Clean, paint, and mark steel tanks as required.
- Perform acid adjustments when necessary.
- Complete battery assembly within specified timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
- Deliver batteries and chargers as needed.
Additional duties
- Correctly operate a multimeter for testing and fault-finding of complete batteries.
- Read, interpret, and respond appropriately to battery reports.
- Accurately diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment breakdowns; advise the customer and/or supervisor on required repairs.
- Strip, rebuild, and service lead acid and lithium batteries as well as chargers.
- Inspect, repair, and replace faulty accessories.
- Safely remove cells that are jammed within tanks.
- Conduct quality checks once the assembly process is complete.
- Adhere to OHSACT requirements, ensuring all activities on company and client premises are performed safely and in compliance with legal standards and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Qualified electrician/electronics technician with experience in batteries and charging equipment or currently studying towards an electrical/electronic qualification.
- Trade test certificate, mechanic
- Code 8/10 driver's license (for field service technicians)
- Sound working knowledge of battery and charger electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Committed to service excellence with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in written and verbal English.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
