Job summary

A local cafe in Sea Point, Western Cape, is looking for a Barista to provide excellent customer service and prepare high-quality beverages. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of barista experience, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and compliance with health regulations. This is a full-time position with in-person work requirements.

Qualifications

• Prior experience from Seattle Cafe is advantageous.
• Barista: 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing customers with drink menus and answering questions regarding ingredients.
• Taking orders while paying attention to details.
• Preparing quality hot and cold beverages.
• Serve beverages and prepared food.
• Receive and process payments.
• Keep the barista area clean.
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates.
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Communicate customer feedback to managers.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Providing customers with drink menus and answering their questions regarding ingredients
• Taking orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, vegan milk and sugar ratios)
• Preparing quality hot and cold beverages following recipes and always ensuring that due diligence is applied in the preparation process
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar / barista area clean
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Additional duties as needed or required

Qualifications

Prior experience from Seattle Cafe is advantageous.
