Job summary

A leading mining company in Limpopo is seeking a Banksman to oversee safety and operations in the shaft area. Candidates must have relevant certifications and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Examining Safety devices.
• Shaft examinations.
• Housekeeping of shaft bank area.
• Safety of personnel in shaft bank area and in the shaft.
• Signaling Winding Engine Driver, Stage Operators, shaft bottom personnel.
• Examining telephones, lights and signaling devices.
• Hoisting of men and equipment.
• Hoisting of rock disposal.
• Record‑keeping of Shaft log book.
• Rigging and slinging of equipment.
• Report any anomalies and incidents to the shaft Foreman.

Skills

Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification

Onsetter or Banksman Certificate

Boiler making phase 1 certificate

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the‑art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

• Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
• Onsetter or Banksman Certificate
• Boiler making phase 1 certificate
• IRCA Training for Construction Supervisors Certificate
