Our client is a well-established retail group seeking a Bakery Plant Manager to oversee the full bakery operation within one of their key stores. This role requires a skilled, process-driven leader who is confident managing a team, driving production, and maintaining exceptional product standards.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, production, packaging, and display of baked goods, while ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. A high level of leadership, communication, and customer service is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise, and oversee all daily operations of the bakery
  • Lead and manage the bakery team, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Maintain stock levels and control ingredient procurement
  • Ensure all SOPs, food safety, and hygiene practices are consistently followed
  • Uphold product quality by following standardised recipes and baking processes
  • Monitor bakery performance, track trends, and implement strategies to improve profitability
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate with store management and other departments to drive sales and promotions
  • Address customer inquiries and special orders professionally
  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of the bakery department and its equipment
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Proven experience managing a retail or commercial bakery
  • Knowledge of various baking techniques and bakery operations
  • Strong leadership, planning, and decision-making ability
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • Food handler’s certificate/licence preferred
