Role Summary
The Azure Support Engineer will manage, support, and optimise cloud infrastructure and networking across all Azure environments, with a primary focus on implementing and troubleshooting complex cloud networking and solution deployments. This engineer will serve as a critical technical bridge between operations, architecture, and delivery teams, ensuring robust, secure, scalable, and resilient hybrid/cloud connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Networking & Connectivity
- Implement, and support Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, IP addressing, NSGs, UDRs, Route Tables, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateways, Bastion, Private Link, and ExpressRoute/hybrid connectivity for enterprise‑scale environments.
- Optimise and monitor performance, high availability, scalability, and security for all cloud‑based networking, proactively addressing routing, traffic control, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking problems, including DNS, hybrid (on‑prem/cloud) links, authentication, and service connectivity across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS workloads.
Solution Engineering & Support
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure solutions, including compute, storage, databases, containers, and application gateways.
- Automate deployment using ARM/Bicep templates and manage Infrastructure‑as‑Code and version control for repeatable environments.
- Support migration of workloads from on‑premises to Azure, manage cross‑tenant connectivity, and deliver solution documentation and handover.
Security, Monitoring, and Incident Response
- Apply best practices for network security, monitoring (Azure Monitor, Network Watcher), and compliance, responding to alerts, incidents, and DR scenarios.
- Coordinate with security, application, and architecture teams to remedy vulnerabilities and validate policies.
Collaboration & Solution Design
- Translate business and solution requirements into robust Azure network and resource architectures, often partnering closely with architects and developers.
- Document architecture diagrams, operational guides, and network change control.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ hands‑on Azure administration with at least 2 years focused on advanced enterprise networking and hybrid solutions.
- Deep expertise in Azure networking (VNets, VPN, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Bastion, Firewall, Load Balancers), including hybrid and multi‑region environments.
- Proficient in ARM/Bicep, PowerShell, or Azure CLI for automated deployments and troubleshooting.
- Broad Azure platform knowledge (compute, storage, identity, RBAC, monitoring).
- Demonstrable experience in incident/problem management and troubleshooting both solutions and hybrid network paths.
Mandatory Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ‑700)
Desired Skills & Nice‑to‑have
