Placements24’s Durban-based aviation client seeks an Aviation Safety Officer specialized in Flight Operations to lead the SMS across all flight activities. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication, and a proactive safety culture to support safe operations.

The position covers audits, incident investigations, risk mitigation, safety training, and regulatory liaison. A 4+ year track record and knowledge of SACAA/EASA/FAA regulations are highly preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in aviation safety management, flight operations, or related field.
• Knowledge of SACAA, EASA, FAA regulations and SMS.
• Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of flight operations procedures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Driver's license is required.

Requirements

• Proven experience (4+ years) in aviation safety management, flight operations, or a related field.

• Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of flight operations procedures and principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
• A relevant aviation qualification or certification in safety management is highly preferred.
