Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Technician in heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or aviation GSE.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on aviation GSE including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across GSE.
• Ensure all GSE is operational and safe, adhering to manufacturer specs and aviation safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs and parts used.
• Operate GSE safely for testing or operational support.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician to ensure the optimal functioning and availability of all ground support equipment (GSE) at their facility in Paarl . This role is critical for the seamless operation of airport activities, including aircraft turnarounds, baggage handling, and maintenance support. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide array of GSE, ranging from aircraft tugs and belt loaders to specialized maintenance vehicles. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all types of aviation ground support equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across various GSE.
• Ensure all GSE is operational and safe for use, adhering to manufacturer specifications and aviation safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used for all equipment.
• Operate various pieces of GSE safely and efficiently when required for testing or operational support.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize operational disruption.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technician specializing in heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or aviation ground support equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment specific to GSE maintenance.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain an airport security clearance.
