Job description

We have a Workshop Working Foreman vacancy at a Automotive company in Potchefstroom.

Duties:

  • Prepare thorough quotations on vehicles.
  • Conduct fault finding and carry out repairs when required.
  • Assist with sourcing parts and liaise with storeroom/project manager on availability.
  • Manage workshop staff performance and daily planning.
  • Support with diagnostics and provide technical assistance to technicians.
  • Handle customer and internal queries (parts, orders, invoices, etc).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO health and safety standards; manage staff PPE.
  • Oversee workshop conditions including housekeeping, cleanliness, safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage and coordinate warranties process and ensure workshop targets are achieved.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong customer relations.
  • Implement quality initiatives and support technician training and development.
  • Monitor progress of repair orders throughout the day; assign repairs fairly.
  • Handle minor disciplinary matters and assist in staff skills development.

Requirements:

  • NQF 4 / N1–N3 with 3–5 years’ mechanic experience (minimum 2 years in workshop and staff management).
  • Trade Test qualification (Diesel Mechanic – Red Seal).
  • Experience with forklifts, telehandlers, yellow machines, cranes, trucks, trailers, tractors, TMM machines, and engine rebuilds advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and auto-electrical systems advantageous.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (read, write, speak).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work afterhours.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Driver license.
  • Matric or equivalent.
