SM-1As a Regulatory Certification Manager in the automotive industry, your primary responsibility is to ensure that vehicles and automotive products comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight
- Stay up-to-date with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing the automotive industry.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain compliance strategies to ensure products meet all necessary certifications.
- Certification Process Management
- Manage the end-to-end certification process for vehicles and automotive components.
- Coordinate with engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to gather necessary documentation and data for certification.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and third-party certification bodies to facilitate testing, inspections, and audits.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of certification activities, including test results, compliance reports, and regulatory correspondence.
- Generate regulatory documentation such as technical files, conformity assessment reports, and declarations of conformity.
- Pile data and metrics to track certification progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product development processes.
- Provide guidance and support to engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure regulatory compliance is built into product designs from the outset.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Risk Management and Issue Resolution
- Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Investigate compliance issues, non-conformities, and customer complaints related to certification.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to address issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Regulatory Advocacy and Representation
- Represent the organization in regulatory discussions, industry forums, and standardization bodies.
- Advocate for the company's interests while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Several years of experience in regulatory compliance, certification, or quality management within the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive regulations and standards, such as FMVSS, ECE, CCC, ISO, and SAE.
- Familiarity with certification processes and requirements in major automotive markets in South Africa.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and external partners.
