Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Quality Assurance Inspector in Bloemfontein, Free State. You will conduct visual and dimensional inspections of components, raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, recording data and reporting deviations to the Quality Manager.

You will collaborate with production to implement CAPA, participate in root cause analysis, and ensure compliance with QMS (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949). A strong eye for detail is essential for maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Quality Inspector in automotive manufacturing.
• Proficient with measuring tools and inspection equipment.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of automotive components and sub-assemblies.

About the Role Our client, a leading manufacturer of automotive components, is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Automotive Quality Assurance Inspector to join their production team in Bloemfontein, Free State. This role is fundamental to ensuring that all manufactured parts meet the highest quality standards and comply with stringent industry specifications. The successful candidate will conduct rigorous inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods, identifying any deviations or defects. You will be responsible for documenting inspection results, reporting quality issues, and working closely with production teams to implement corrective actions. Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of automotive components and sub-assemblies.
• Utilize measuring instruments and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to verify product specifications.
• Inspect raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Accurately record inspection data and maintain detailed quality records.
• Identify and report non-conforming products or process deviations to the Quality Manager.
• Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Participate in root cause analysis investigations for quality issues.
• Ensure adherence to quality management system (QMS) procedures, such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
• Conduct line-side inspections and audits as required within the Bloemfontein plant.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in quality throughout the manufacturing process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical qualification in quality assurance or manufacturing is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector, preferably in the automotive manufacturing sector.
• Proficiency in using various measuring tools and inspection equipment.
• Understanding of quality control principles and methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good observational skills and the ability to identify subtle defects.
• Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC).
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949 standards is advantageous.
