Placements24 invites an experienced Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Gauteng on a contract basis. You will translate concepts into detailed 3D models and drawings, conduct FEA and simulations, and ensure designs meet automotive standards and production requirements.

You will collaborate with manufacturing and R&D teams in a fast-paced environment, using SolidWorks, CATIA or AutoCAD, and applying GD&T and materials knowledge to deliver robust components for multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of automotive mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and FEA tools.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for automotive applications using CAD software.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are cost-effective, producible, and meet quality standards.
• Conduct design reviews and implement feedback to optimize component performance and durability.
• Investigate and resolve mechanical design issues encountered during prototype development and production.

About the Role

Requirements

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS).
• Strong understanding of material science, manufacturing processes, and automotive systems.
• Excellent knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
