Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automation Technician in Benoni, Gauteng, focused on robotics to install, program, troubleshoot and maintain robotic systems on the production floor. You will work with FANUC, KUKA, ABB controllers and PLCs, read schematics, conduct preventive maintenance, and support upgrades with engineering teams.

The role requires a National Diploma or similar and at least four years of automation experience.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or relevant certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Automation Technician with strong robotics focus.
• Proven experience with FANUC, KUKA, and ABB robotic platforms and PLC programming.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI, and industrial networking.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission robotic systems and automated production equipment.
• Program, troubleshoot, and debug robotic controllers and PLC systems (FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Siemens).
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on automated machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues related to automation.
