GCO Partners, in collaboration with one of our Top 50 UK mid-tier accounting firm partners, is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our Not-for-Profit (NFP) audit portfolio.
This opportunity offers exposure to UK charities, foundations, and social enterprises, providing high-impact work within a (hybrid Johannesburg-based model).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full audit engagements for UK-based Not-for-Profit clients, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, FRS , and Charities SORP.
- Execute and review technical sections including going concern, impairment, deferred income, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare, review, and finalise audit files using CaseWare and Inflo, maintaining quality and consistency across deliverables.
- Supervise junior team members, providing review, feedback, and on-the-job development.
- Communicate clearly with UK Managers and Partners, providing structured daily updates and ensuring proactive issue management.
- Maintain full adherence to GCO Partners quality standards and UK client methodologies.
- Stay informed on UK technical and regulatory updates impacting the Not-for-Profit sector.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified or (ACA, ACCA, or CA(SA)) or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of 3 - 5 years post-article audit experience, ideally with exposure to UK Not-for-Profit or charity audits.
- Must have experience auditing charitable organisations, both incorporated and unincorporated.
- Skilled in drafting financial statements for charitable entities, with a sound understanding of fund accounting.
- Proven experience presenting audit findings to Trustee Boards or Audit Committees.
- Working knowledge of the Charity SORP and / or Further Education SORP.
- Must have strong technical proficiency in UK GAAP, FRS , and associated frameworks.
- Proficient in CaseWare and Inflo (essential).
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage end-to-end engagements, and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timelines.
- Clear communicator with strong reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Genuine interest in the Not-for-Profit sector and purpose-driven auditing.
