Audit & Accounts Senior (Remote – South Africa Based)

At Streets Chartered Accountants, we provide tailored audit, accounting, and advisory services through a collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking team. As we continue to expand our global remote capability, we are seeking an Audit & Accounts Senior to join us. This role includes accounts preparation, audit engagements, and contributing to corporate tax compliance where relevant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review financial statements under IFRS, FRS 102, UK GAAP, and relevant regulatory frameworks (approx. 20% allocation, though may vary depending on portfolio needs).
  • Assist with the preparation of accounts for a mixed portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK accounting standards.
  • Support basic corporate tax compliance, including drafting tax computations and assisting with client queries (experience preferred but not essential).
  • Execute audit engagements for companies, groups and charities; planning through completion, including risk assessment, fieldwork, review of financial statements, and preparation of audit files.
  • Team training and mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior accountants and trainees, provide guidance and training, providing operational leadership to small audit teams where required.
  • Engage directly with clients, ensuring clear communication, timely delivery, and a high standard of professional service.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal processes, audit methodology, and quality control procedures.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified or nearly qualified accountant (SAICA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Recent and proven experience: You have previous experience in accounts preparation work, including knowledge of accounting principles and practices. You also have experience in bookkeeping, and VAT.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, FRS 102, and UK GAAP.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client and team interactions.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience with audit and accounting software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks. CaseWare, CCH, SAPA, is advantageous.
  • Understanding of UK accounting and tax rules is preferred.
  • Client-focused communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are confident in liaising with clients and explaining complex financial information in clear terms.
  • Analytical and organised: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. You are well organised, able to manage deadlines and priorities, and you take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
