A food safety auditing company in East London is seeking a qualified auditor to conduct food safety audits at retail food establishments. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, preparing reports, and effective communication with clients. Candidates must have a Diploma or Degree in a relevant field and 2–3 years of experience in food safety audits. A valid driver's license and passport are required, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Job Purpose: To conduct food safety audits at retail food establishments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, client-specific requirements, and internal procedures.
Review and confirm monthly and daily audit schedules. Communicate schedule updates and cancellations as required. Conduct audits in accordance with company procedures and client standards. Evaluate food premises, practices, and documentation against predetermined criteria. Ensure correct PPE is worn and meets client-specific requirements. Conduct opening and closing meetings with clients. Complete Client Confirmation Slips and resolve disputes where applicable. Prepare accurate, concise audit reports and communicate findings verbally. Perform quality checks on reports before submission. Meet client turnaround times and maintain audit KPIs. Apply risk assessment standards during audit planning and execution. Travel to audit sites as required, including weekends (overtime policy applies).
Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Environmental Health, Microbiology, or Biotechnology. Valid driver's license and passport. Minimum 2–3 years' experience conducting audits against food safety or occupational health and safety standards. Exposure to client-facing roles and dispute resolution. Knowledge of strong understanding of food safety regulations and standards. Familiarity with retail food operations and hygiene practices. Knowledge of risk assessment and PPE compliance. Awareness of client-specific protocols and audit behaviour expectations. Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. Technical proficiency in audit systems and reporting tools. Ability to work independently and adapt to varying client needs. Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
