Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Mercantile Law (Corporate Law or Insolvency Law).
  • Supervise postgraduate students in their dissertations and theses.
  • Conduct and publish research in local, international, accredited journals, book chapters, books, and monographs in the field of Mercantile Law.
  • Take on administrative and committee roles within the Faculty of Law and Department of Mercantile Law, the broader University of Johannesburg (UJ), when called upon.
  • Serve as a mentor to emerging staff in the Faculty of Law and the Department of Mercantile Law.
  • Attract and sustain fundraising initiatives and strategies to advance teaching and research scholarship.
  • Participate in community engagement initiatives to advance societal engagement and impact.
Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree in Mercantile Law (Corporate Law and Insolvency Law).
  • At least 5 years of lecturing experience in the discipline of Mercantile Law.
  • Strong publication track record in reputable and accredited journals, book chapters and books.
  • Strong commitment to research‑led teaching, research and innovation.
  • Sound communication skills in English.
  • Evidence and experience in postgraduate supervision, including at the doctoral level and having supervised postgraduate students to completion.
