About the Division Regulatory & Financial Risk (RFR)

RFR is an established advisor within the financial services industry.

Our vision is to be the leading provider of advisory services to financial services providers and corporate treasury operations across Africa.

Our client offerings span: Credit, market, and corporate treasury risks; Valuations of financial instruments; Hedge accounting; and financial technology.

We provide these services in the capacities of advisory, assurance, managed solutions, and resource augmentation.

We also help clients address regulatory challenges relating to IFRS 9, 13, 17 and Basel, amongst others.

Our team comprises accountants,aries, statisticians, and quantitative analysts with a technical appreciation for both financial modelling and coding.

RFR Credit Team

The RFR Credit team resides within RFR, and is involved in the following service offerings: IFRS 9 Impairment Models (development, refinement, validation, and audit) Regulatory and Economic Capital Credit Models Scorecards and Analytics Behavioural Product Pricing Design, Development, and Implementation of Credit Monitoring Frameworks Collections Optimisation Strategy and Risk Appetite Statement Secondments.

Job Description

To support the RFR Credit Risk Team in delivery of services to / at client premises on delegated engagements and projects.

To contribute to the growth of the RFR practice by leading complex projects while trailblazing the market and forging strong C-suite business relationships with key clients.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Strategic relationship development with key clients.
  • Bold play eminence creation.

  • Review of client deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Oversee development and calibration and validation of credit risk models as well as model validation, monitoring and testing.
  • Benchmarking credit metrics amongst peers in a market.
  • Derivation of portfolio credit analytics.
  • Communication of project challenges and outcomes with clients and team members.
  • Validation and approval of project reports.
  • Team leadership including sharing knowledge and skills with the team.
Key Performance Areas
1. Strategic Impact
  • Give meaningful input into the development of strategy of the Service Line / Business Area.
  • Implements the strategy within area of business through detailed plan including client targets, marketing plan, people plan, communication plan, and contingency plan.
  • Tracking of plans. Identifies innovative solutions to enhance / renew service offerings to market.
  • Heads up sales presentation teams for new and retained business, leads negotiations with clients, actively identifies multiple sales opportunities, leads the pursuit process, builds relationships across service lines for cross‑selling opportunities.
  • Drives own client portfolio and profitable book of business.
2. Client Impact
  • Maintains high level oversight of client projects.
  • Develops productive, credible and trusting relationships with current and targeted clients.
  • Builds a network of senior‑level internal relationships across Deloitte.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with business leaders across industries.
3. Operational Effectiveness
  • Validates all SLAs are in place and signed off by all parties.
  • Oversees engagement risk and ensures all required documentation and processes are completed.
  • Directs and manages complex client engagements and maintains high level oversight of all projects.
  • Analyzes weekly/monthly reports and approves process changes/innovative solutions.
  • Drives Deloitte values of exceptional service to clients, growing the firm’s brand and talent development.
4. Development / Growth of Team
  • Identifies and recruits suitable talent for team, balancing correct levels and numbers.
  • Maintains succession plan for senior / critical resources.
  • Mentors and develops team members continually.
  • Maintains close working relationship with key talent and owns development and knowledge in specialised area.

5. Budgets / Profitability
  • Manages margins effectively through correct budgeting, pricing and profitability management.
  • Monitors that time and expenses to engagements are recorded and submitted weekly.
  • Negotiates pricing for engagements to ensure profitability whilst maintaining client interests.
  • Manages WIP & billings and cash collections.
