Associate Attorney (Commercial & Litigation)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team.

The successful candidate will handle a broad range of commercial and litigation matters, providing end-to-end legal support from advisory and drafting to dispute resolution and court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute a diverse caseload of commercial and litigation matters independently and efficiently.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, pleadings, opinions, and correspondence.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations, as well as engage in settlement negotiations.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare well-reasoned legal opinions and memoranda.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, counsel, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively within a small, high-performing team while taking full ownership of assigned matters.
  • Assist in business development initiatives and contribute to the firm's professional growth.
Qualifications
  • LLB degree and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
  • At least 5 years' post-admission experience in both commercial law and litigation.
  • Proven ability to draft high-quality legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple matters under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate as a team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Attention to detail, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to client service.
