Job summary

Omnia Holdings is hiring an Assistant (Quality Controller) for the Losberg site. You will support the Process Controller, perform cartridge sampling and measurement, record production data, and help maintain quality and safety standards on a 8-hour shift.

The role requires Grade 12 Maths/Science, a technical qualification is advantageous, and at least 1 year in manufacturing. Permanent position within BME Production and Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling and measurement of cartridges.
• Record results during the manufacturing process and identify defects or non-conformance to minimize waste and ensure quality.
• Assist the Process Controller during start-up and shutdown; perform minor maintenance on the Rota-clip machine to ensure 85% of design capacity.
• Prepare gassing solution safely and promptly to keep waste under 0.5%.
• Optimize productivity and quality; plan resources to minimize downtime.
• Adhere to SHERQ principles: wear PPE, maintain housekeeping, monitor processes for quality.

ROLE IMPACT

The purpose of the position is to assist the Process Controller in their duties and is also responsible for the safe and efficient determination of product conformance through sampling and measurement of product characteristics.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct sampling and measurement of cartridges

• To constantly conduct sampling and measurement of cartridges
• Record results during the manufacturing process and identify defects or non-conformance of products as early as possible in the process to minimize waste and ensure quality products to customers

Standby duties as a Process Controller

• Assist the Process Controller during start-up and shutdown and do minor maintenance of the Rota-clip machine to ensure manufacturing efficiency of 85% of design capacity.

Process efficiency

• Safe and timeous preparation of gassing solution during the manufacturing of cartridge explosives thus ensuring production of less than 0.5% waste.
• Optimize productivity and quality
• Proactively plan for resources that may be needed during the shift to minimize downtime

Adherence to sound SHERQ principles

• Wear correct PPE
• Adhere to good housekeeping principles
• Constantly monitor the production process to ensure quality standards are met.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Maths and Science)
• Suitable Technical qualification (Advantageous)

Experience

• 1 year's demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment or plant operation.
