PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
These may vary in both size, technical scope and complexity.
Projects will include but are not limited to: Large custom client deployments, ranging from colocation deployments to entire DC hall deployments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the site Project Manager on site with all projects related tasks.
- Responsible for the safe switching, energization, de‑energization, LOTO (lock out, tag out) and access into live / energized rooms during construction and fit‑out.
- Active participation in both the inspection and approval for any energization, as well as enforcement of the rules and regulations, inclusive of national regulations, Teraco procedures and locally developed site procedures pertaining to electricity on the construction site.
- The role will carry legal responsibility and a GMR 2.7 appointment in terms of the OHS act & regulations.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Compile and maintain the necessary local site‑specific energization, switching and LOTO procedures to ensure safe switching and energization.
- These should be informed by existing Teraco procedures and take the following into consideration: PPE and risk based on the Arc Flash studies, Effective communication of energization, Effective signage to inform of energized equipment and rooms, Effective control of LOTO keys and mechanisms, Control of access into energized rooms and areas, Effective record keeping.
- Ensure that a process is in place that verifies qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing electrical work, and that these are regularly audited.
- Ensure that the necessary legal compliance with regards to Earthing certificates, COC's etc.
- Formulate and implement safe isolation and LOTO for all electrical work on the site.
The role will require that the Energy Marshal is able to balance the often‑competing requirements for completing work safely and at pace.
ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act pro‑actively taking the lead on delegated tasks: Review of non‑technical method statements, Supervising work in live areas, H&S Site Observations, Project Task Execution.
- DAB's meeting attendance and participation, Change Control logging, Quotations and purchase order tracking, Site Cleaning coordination, Site Painting coordination, Post IST Snag Coordination.
- Assist in the logistics proces and rigging procedures, QC Inspections and escalations to site Project Manager, Review and understand client standards and requirements, and ensure the project deliverables are delivered in compliance with these; Facilitate handovers to Operations and Infrastructure Departments.
- Establish good working relationships with all stakeholders; Work with the suppliers / Subcontractors to establish integrated project plans and ensure the suppliers / sub‑contractors meet the agreed project quality and project timelines.
- Identify project risks and work with internal and external stakeholders in mitigating the project risks; Assist with project meetings with clients, document decisions and agreed actions.
- Assist with project documentation, including Microsoft Project schedules, Risk Register, Project Minutes / Action plans / Email trails; Retain a document repository for the project, based on the project scope and risk.
- Establish and communicate the overall budget and timescales for projects; Procurement administration; Manage documentation as per the Teraco proses (Autodesk and SharePoint).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Data Centre Certified Profession / Practitioner would be advantageous
- Competent Electrical artisan (Red Seal)
- Minimum of N5 (pref an N6) or Diploma or Btech
- Preferable OHVRS theory completed and / or competent MV experience
- Fair understanding related most of the following but not limited to: Environmental monitoring, Generator deployment, UPS, LV / MLV, Fire systems, Cooling systems, Biometric and CCTV Security Solutions, Networking and switching, Experience in Integrated System Test, Microsoft Project experience, Project Management qualification / experience
