Job summary

A leading financial institution in South Africa is seeking a production assistant. The role involves supporting daily production tasks, operating various machines, and ensuring quality monitoring. Candidates should have at least a Grade 12, N3 Engineering or TT3, alongside desirable experience in the printing or manufacturing industry. This position aims to enhance operational efficiency and supports a safe working environment.

  • Ensure sufficient consumables for the production shift.

  • Monitor ink levels and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Operate cutting machine and assist with changeover.
  • Report deviations following company procedures.
  • Assist with daily product balancing.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety practices.

Job description
Purpose

To provide assistance to the department with daily production tasks.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Accept and inspect product, raw materials from the storage areas and transport these to the applicable production section.
  • Ensure that there are sufficient consumables such as platforms and boxes for the production shift.
  • Operate the feeder to ensure good quality paper feed into the machine, troubleshoot and resolve feeder‑related problems.
  • Monitor ink levels, replenish as and when required, perform autonomous maintenance tasks.
  • Operate cutting machine for boards, assist with the changeover, make ready, cleaning and stripping of machine.
  • Report any deviations in accordance with the company procedures.
  • Assist with balancing of product daily.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, work instructions and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are adhered to, identify, address and elevate hazards and risks in the workplace.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as requested.
The Preferred Candidate is likely to have
  • Grade 12
  • N3 Engineering or TT3
  • 1–2 years’ experience in the printing/manufacturing industry (added advantage).
