Job summary

Gauteng Provincial Government's Department of Health is seeking an Assistant Manager Nursing General (Day and Night) at Pholosong Regional Hospital. The role leads nursing services, oversees patient care delivery and resources, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance.

The position requires registration with SANC, extensive nursing and managerial experience, and strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Weekend and holiday work may be required by operational needs.

Qualifications

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent and registration with SANC as Professional Nurse.
• Diploma or Degree enabling registration with SANC.
• Diploma/Degree in Health Service Management/Nursing Administration or Management.
• Minimum of eight (8) years nursing experience after registration with SANC.
• At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be at Nursing management level.

• Monitor and allocate human, financial and physical resources, including bed management.
• Maintain relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff for multidisciplinary patient care flow.

• Ensure data governance and monitor performance indicators for compliance.
• Guide implementation of operational plans per GDOH Annual Performance plan.

Requirements :

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Basic Diploma/Degree that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of eight (8) years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Diploma or Degree in Health Service Management/ Nursing Administration or Management. At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience at Nursing management level. Proof of current year SANC registration. Demonstrate computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to compile presentations and draft professional reports.SKILLS: Strong Leadership skills, Good Communication, Conflict management/ Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Duties :

• Delegate, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Monitor and ensure proper allocation and utilization of human, financial and physical resources for different departments including effective bed management. Establish and maintain constructive working relationship with clinical and non-clinical staff that will allow consistent flow of patient care by a multi-disciplinary team. Ensure compliance with Health and safety standards and IHRM (Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance) and OHSC (Office of Health Standard Compliance) including safe standards for emergency readiness, disaster management and prevention/ management of patient safety incidents. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and development of self and subordinates through ongoing training and research. Provide support to staff regarding clinical and non-clinical matters and engage in problem solving/ conflict management. Ensure effective Data governance and monitor efficiency indicators for performance compliance. Guide and supervise implementation of Operational plans as guided by GDOH Annual Performance plan. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required by operational needs. Knowledge of PFMA and Supply Chain Management Regulations and other regulatory frameworkManage allocation/utilization of human, financial and physical resources for different departments including effective be management. Ensure effective and consistent communication of relevant, accurate and comprehensive information on health care to Executive and other relevant stakeholders as directed.
