Job summary

The Apex Group is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a team of Senior Fund Accountants and Fund Accountants in delivering client valuations and accounting services. You will oversee workloads, mentor staff, and ensure accurate Net Asset Values and timely reporting.

• Commerce degree or diploma with Financial Accounting 2.
• At least 5 years related experience.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Hedge fund industry knowledge.

• Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and control team workload and workflow.
• Provide informal on-the-job training for team members.
• Liaise with other departments on issues affecting the output of the supervisor's team.
• Ensure that Accounting and Valuations procedures are followed.
• Ensure Net Asset Value calculations are timely and accurate.
• Review valuations up to final sign-off.
• Ensure valuation reports are sent to clients by deadlines.
• Resolve client queries promptly.
• Provide information to fund auditors as requested.
• Suggest valuation procedure improvements and ensure orderly filing.
• Responsible for Fund Accounting; Pricing; NAV file verification; Security price review.
• Cash and interest reconciliation; Reporting; 3rd party validation; income distribution calculations; management fee reporting for the Alusi Fund.

Description

The Assistant Manager role involves monitoring and controlling the service as delivered by their team of Senior Fund Accountants and Fund Accountants throughout the contract with the client, to ensure that:

• Identify the training and development needs of his/her team;
• Mentor team members;
• Perform a thorough review of valuations up to final sign-off stage;
• Ensure service levels are maintained and
• Liaise with clients and assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures.

• Suggest and implement valuation procedure and process improvements; Ensure that all filing for the section is kept up to date and is performed in a neat and orderly manner.
