Job summary

The Apex Group is seeking an Assistant Manager Finance in Cape Town for a recently CA(SA) qualified professional. You will lead month-end close activities in line with the wider group, ensuring accurate journals, asset register maintenance, and revenue accrual analysis.

You will also balance intercompany accounts, perform GL reviews, manage tax entries, assist with audits and statutory filings, and support management reporting for local boards.

Qualifications

• Audit training experience with CA(SA)
• CA(SA) designation is required
• Strong communication skills essential
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• High attention to detail and organisational skills

Responsibilities

• Month end close in line with group processes
• Prepare and post monthly journals
• Maintain and update fixed asset register
• Analyze revenue and determine revenue accruals
• Balance intercompany loan accounts
• Analyse trial balance and GL with necessary corrections
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations
• Carry out tax computations and related journal entries
• Manage cash flow and assist in reporting
• Prepare management accounts and annual financial statements
• Support statutory audits and regulatory filings
• Present results to local entity boards

Assistant Manager Finance

Key responsibilities

The brief description outlined above will involve the following specific duties:

• Responsible for month end close process in line with wider group which includes the following:
• Preparation and posting of monthly journals,
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register,
• Analysis of revenue and determination of revenue accrual,
• Balancing intercompany loan accounts,
• Analysis of trial balance and general ledger with corrections if required,
• Balance sheet reconciliations,
• Tax computations and related journal entries.
• Cash flow management;.
• Preparation of management accounts;
• Prepare annual financial statements
• Manage and run statutory audits;
• Queries from internal departments as well as external parties;
• Regulatory filings
• Annalise and present results to local entity boards

Skills / experience

Recently qualified CA (SA) with:

• Audit training experience at an audit firm.
• CA(SA)
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint usage.
• Willingness to learn and develop.
• Organised and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently as well as in teams within other areas of the Finance group.
• Strong communication skills.
