HotelJobs in South Africa is seeking an experienced game lodge manager for a luxury 5* lodge in a national park. The role requires Big 5 walking safari leadership, 2+ years in a 5-star lodge, and strong guest-experience focus.

Candidates must hold Matric and hospitality/trails qualifications, PrDP with Code 8, firearm competency with FGASA ARH, and First Aid certification. NDT/CATHSSETA registration is preferred; maintenance exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Matric and hospitality/trails qualifications are required.
• 2+ years in a 5-star lodge environment as senior hospitality manager.
• PrDP with Code 8 driver's license is mandatory.
• Firearm competency and FGASA ARH qualification with current competency.
• First Aid certificate (Level 2+) preferred.
• NDT or CATHSSETA registration/qualification.
• Experience guiding Big 5 walking safaris is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage guest experience from arrival to departure.
• Oversee lodge operations during DM shifts or in absence of Lodge GM.
• Manage stock capture and weekly orders; handle 10/20/30 day counts.
• Oversee maintenance, energy use, and lodge solar power plant.
• Conduct game drives and Big 5 walking safaris; act as duty ranger.
• Transport staff and guests as required.

Job description

Luxury 5* lodge accommodating upto 20 guests, in a National Park with Big 5, seeks an experienced game lodge manager with the following experience :-

• Matric Essential
• Hospitality qualification and / or Trails Guide qualification, accredited for Big 5 walking trails will be an advantage.
• Must have 2 years’ experience in a 5-star lodge environment as a senior hospitality manager.
• PrDP and code 8 driver’s licence.
• Firearm competency and FGASA Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) qualification, with current competency.
• Valid First Aid Certificate (Level 2 or higher preferred).
• NDT (National Department of Tourism) registered or CATHSSETA qualified.
• Maintenance exposure an advantage
• Proven previous experience guiding Big 5 walking safaris in a Big 5 reserve

Duties include but not limited to:

• Manage the Guest Experience, from first arrival to departure;
• Oversee lodge operations when on DM shifts or in absence of Lodge GM;
• Manage the capturing of Operational Equipment & stock;
• Processes weekly stock orders;
• manage the 10,20 and 30 day stock counts;
• Manage Maintenance Department, being responsible for Managing the energy usage and Lodge Solar Power plant;
• Conduct game drives and Big 5 walking safaris, as well as acting as Duty Ranger;
• Transporting staff and guests when required
