Assistant General Manager - Luxury Safari Camp, Tanzania

Location: Serengeti, Tanzania

Salary: Approximately US$3,000 net per month

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a polished, proactive and guest-focused Assistant General Manager to join a luxury safari camp in Tanzania. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who can support the General Manager, maintain exceptional operational standards and ensure guests receive a seamless, personalised experience.

Working alongside an established management team with extensive brand experience, the successful candidate must be confident, detail-oriented and capable of taking ownership of daily operations with minimal supervision. A hands-on approach and a strong understanding of luxury lodge hospitality are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager with the daily running of the camp, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Maintain exceptional guest service standards, anticipating guest needs and ensuring personalised experiences.
• Conduct regular operational checks to ensure all departments consistently meet luxury hospitality standards.
• Work closely with front-of-house, housekeeping, food and beverage and kitchen teams to maintain seamless service delivery.
• Assist with staff supervision, training, performance management and team development.
• Monitor guest feedback and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
• Ensure attention to detail across all guest-facing areas and operational procedures.
• Support administrative duties, reporting, scheduling and general management responsibilities.
• Identify operational challenges proactively and implement practical solutions.
• Build strong working relationships with colleagues and management to foster a positive and professional environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Assistant General Manager, Lodge Manager, Assistant Lodge Manager or senior hospitality management role.
• Experience within a luxury safari lodge, boutique hotel or high-end hospitality property.
• Exceptional guest relations and hosting skills, with a genuine passion for personalised service.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistently high standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to make decisions independently.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining calm and professional under pressure.
• Strong administrative and operational skills.
• A polished, professional demeanour and the ability to work effectively within an established management team.
• Flexibility to work in a remote safari environment.
