Job Title: Assistant Director Medical Biological Science / Assistant Director Reproductive Clinical Technology

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of the goals of the department.
- Work within a team and assist in the management of the Assisted Reproduction program.
- Service delivery, development, implementation and monitoring of guidelines for operational efficiency.
- Participate in risk (prevention-based activities) and total quality management.
- Short- and long-term planning to integrate resources with policies and required activities.
- Monitor laboratory systems and process outcomes to determine skills training standards of staff and interns.
- Administrative functions include performance management of staff and students according to set policies and monitoring continuous education development of the team.
- Create an environment of continuous technology development, education and training, through awareness of the most relevant tools and techniques.
- Motivate and guide interns according to the HPCSA curriculum, guidelines and subject-specific documentation.
- Initiate, supervise and support research projects and proposals for post-graduate studies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master of Science (NQF level 9) and registration with the Health Professional Council Of South Africa (HPCSA) in reproductive biology as a medical biological scientist.
- A minimum of 3 years of appropriate experience after registration at the HPCSA, including 5 years in a supervising capacity.
- B-Tech Degree (NQF Level 7) OR Bachelor of Health Sciences (NQF Level 8) and registration with the HPCSA in Reproductive Biology as a Reproductive Clinical Technologist.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience post-registration with the HPCSA; Master’s Degree in Reproductive Biology, with a minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience in Reproductive Biology.
- Experience in supervisory or managerial roles is an advantage.
- Strong leadership and practical capabilities in assisted reproduction techniques.
- Aptitude in problem solving and troubleshooting in assisted reproduction techniques, proficiency in service delivery, experience with advanced laboratory equipment and research-related databases; experience in the HPCSA training program for medical biological scientist interns in reproductive biology.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; accuracy and attention to detail; good administration and organizing skills of daily laboratory operations; ability to work under pressure, independently.
