A regional government entity in Cape Town seeks a candidate for a legal position requiring a 3-year Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in a legal environment. Responsibilities include providing administrative services to the Consumer Affairs Tribunal and rendering prosecution services. Candidates with legal qualifications and a valid driving licence are preferred. Competitive remuneration offered.
An appropriate 3-year Bachelors Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in the legal field; A minimum of 3 years experience working in a legal and / or regulatory environment.
Administrative and operational services provided to the Western Cape Consumer Affairs Tribunal (WCCAT); Render a prosecution service to WCCAT; Project implementation and administration; Operational plan development and implementation of counterfeit goods operations; The following will be advantageous: Admission as an attorney or Advocate; Working knowledge of legal processes.
Knowledge of the following: Overall understanding of the legal environment related to consumer protection and / or the court process; Labour processes; Financial management including the Public Finance Management Act; Project management; Public service procedures; Applicable policies and procedures; Relationship management; ECM (MyContent); Skills needed: Proven computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Communication (written and verbal); Project Management; Accounting finance and audit; Information technology formal training; Legal administration; Strategic planning; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; It will be advantageous to have a valid code B (or higher) driving licence. R - R per annum (Salary level 9)

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit copies of their documentation for verification purposes. These candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment and attend the interview on a date and time as determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments / proficiency test. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
