Assistant Accountant - Luxury Wine Estate Stellenbosch

Salary: Negotiable Depending on Experience

Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a detail-driven and organised Assistant Accountant to join the finance team at a prestigious luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch. This role is ideal for a candidate with a solid accounting background and a strong understanding of financial processes within a hospitality environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Capture cash book entries and perform daily cash-up reconciliations
  • Execute general ledger functions including journal entries
  • Manage debtors: issue invoices, perform account reconciliations, and follow up on collections
  • Handle creditors: capture invoices, reconcile accounts, and prepare payment batches
  • Administer stock: capture stock invoices and assist with monthly stocktakes
  • Manage petty cash
  • Place orders for centralised goods and supplies
  • Perform general administrative and office duties as required
Main Requirements:
  • Grade 12 essential
  • A degree, diploma, or certificate in Finance, Accounting, or Bookkeeping
  • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry is advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Pastel (Sage) Evolution or similar accounting software
  • Familiarity with Easipos is beneficial
  • Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Professional, flexible, and accountable approach
