The Asset Manageroversees the financial lifecycle of the organisation’s long-term tangibleassets. This role ensures accurate accounting, compliance, and strategiccapital allocation for land, buildings, machinery, and equipment. Accountablefor managing the Groupwide asset management function, ensuring that assets aregoverned throughout their lifecycle to maximise value, minimise risk, supportoperational performance and maintain regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

1. Capital Budgeting & InvestmentAnalysis

• Responsible forbudget and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) requests
• Providedata-driven recommendations to leadership on whether to buy, lease, orbuild major assets.
• Conductpost-implementation reviews to verify if completed projects delivered thepromised financial returns.
• Ensure allcapital investments align with long-term corporate growth andsustainability strategies.

2. Fixed Asset Lifecycle Accounting

• Record theacquisition, capitalization, transfer, and disposal of all fixed assets inthe ERP system.
• Establish andapply accurate depreciation schedules across asset classes based on usefullife and salvage values.
• Perform regularassessments for asset impairment and execute financial write-downs whenasset values permanently drop.
• Oversee theCapital Work-in-Progress (CWIP) account, ensuring projects are capitalisedpromptly upon completion.

3. Risk Management & Physical Governance

• Formulate andupdate corporate asset management policies, including capitalisationthresholds and disposal protocols
• Design andexecute the annual tracking and physical verification schedule for allfixed assets across locations.
• Collaborate withrisk management to ensure adequate insurance coverage for high-valueproperties and machinery.
• Tag and logphysical assets into the tracking software to prevent theft, loss, orunauthorised transfers.

4. Compliance, Audit & Reporting

• Ensure strictadherence to accounting standards regarding fixed asset capitalisationrules.
• Lead all internaland external audit procedures related to the fixed asset register,depreciation, and disposals.

5. Decision Making

The incumbent is expected to independently make decisions, including butnot limited to:

Asset lifecycle strategies, Asset Verification programs, Assetreplacement priorities, Disposal recommendations, Asset utilisationoptimisation, Asset Governance control, Policies and Standard OperatingProcedures

Escalations are generally limited to major capital investments, policyapproval, and significant financial implications.

Technical & Soft Skills
