Job summary

A global mining solutions provider in South Africa is seeking a proactive maintenance assistant to support artisans with various tasks related to machine upkeep and breakdowns. The ideal candidate will possess a Grade 12 or N2 Technical Qualification and First Aid Level 1. Responsibilities include assisting with service activities, conducting visual inspections, and maintaining a clean workshop environment. Candidates with experience in mechanised mining equipment are preferred. A strong emphasis on teamwork and safety compliance is essential. Applications close on 18 December 2025.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / N2 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification.
  • First Aid Level 1 is preferred.
  • Relevant mechanised mining equipment experience is advantageous.

The Role:

To assist Artisans in effective maintenance and breakdowns. This service is rendered to Sandvik Mining clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist artisan with any service/breakdown related activity
  • Visual inspection of machines
  • Clean workshop, machine, tools and equipment
  • Follow workshop map
  • Check wrapping & hoses
  • Relay messages between operations
  • Provide feedback to artisan on machine condition
  • Comply with Sandvik Mining SHEQ management system and the Objectives and Targets set.
  • Utilise correct tools
  • Report Hazardous conditions and acts.
  • Participate in Incident / accident investigations.
  • Technical readings
  • Work on scheduled and unplanned maintenance and breakdowns
Your Profile:
  • Grade 12 / N2 Technical Qualification/ Equivalent Qualification
  • English proficiency
  • First Aid Level 1
  • Relevant mechanised mining equipment experience (Advantageous)
  • Physical & Medical ability to function in a workshop / underground environment
  • Understanding of the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
