Job summary

Netcare invites you to be part of our journey. The Artisan Assistant supports maintenance, utilities and facilities upkeep across hospital environments, including plumbing, electrical, painting, tiling and ceiling work.

Under supervision, you will perform routine maintenance, capture tasks in the CMMS per SOP, and assist the Technical Manager to ensure safe, reliable hospital operations and patient care. We expect at least 1 year in a similar role, matric or NQF4, and basic knowledge of OHSA

Qualifications

• Matric or related NQF Level 4 qualification.
• 1 year experience in a similar role.
• Competent in operating maintenance tools.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations relating to machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks as stipulated in the job scope.
• Assist with utilities support including electrical, mechanical and plumbing tasks.
• Assist with painting, tiling, ceiling work and joinery under supervision.
• Ensure maintenance records are captured in the CMMS per SOP.

The Artisan Assistant is responsible for providing assistance and support for the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the facility. These include Utilities support (plumbing, electrical, mechanical) as well as Facilities upkeep (painting, tiling, ceiling etc) or as guided by the operational requirements of the Hospital.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION

General maintenance tasks

• Perform maintenance tasks as stipulated in "Equipment Type Skills Assessment TGL v1.1".
• Perform tasks under the guidance of a Technical Manager, Technical supervisor or Artisan, including maintenance of equipment, devices or appliances that requires repairs, lubrication, modification or installation.
• Perform supervised minor building, civil and structural maintenance, including but not limited to painting, tiling, ceiling, fencing, joinery
• Conduct routine maintenance checks.
• Perform supervised general building, plant and machinery maintenance.
• Perform supervised general cleaning and maintenance of Hospital property.
• Ensure results of all maintenance (reactive and preventive maintenance) are captured accurately on the CMMS. These entries should reflect spares used, labour involved, associated costs, tasks performed / actions taken and persons / suppliers involved - in accordance with Netcare Technical AMSS requirements, guidelines and procedures (Engineering Services SOP001 Operational Management PD-TEC001-SOP001)

General assistance

• Provide Civil and structural support, with general building maintenance, painting, tiling, ceiling work, joinery, putting up dry walls and other partitioning.
• Provide Utilities support, including electrical, mechanical and plumbing requirements in and around the facility.
• Provide equipment support, with the moving of doctor's rooms, associated medical equipment and furniture.

SKILLS PROFILE

EDUCATION

Essential

Matric or related NQF Level 4 qualification.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

1 year experience in a similar role.

Competent in operating maintenance tools.

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act's regulations relating to machinery.
