Job summary

Job Title

Area Sales Professional Inland (HW and SW) – Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa

Location

Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new account leads and expand existing accounts within your geographic territory.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current customers and identify new customers.
  • Sell and promote Varian hardware and software solutions, managing all pre‑sales activities.
  • Scope and determine products and/or packages to be sold in the assigned territory.
  • Analyze territory for sales potential and develop effective sales strategies.
  • Maintain appropriate territory coverage and schedule product demonstrations.
  • Serve as a technical product expert to develop and present sales proposals and solutions, closing complex technical sales.
  • Manage the sales order/quotation process and promote a life‑cycle sales approach.
  • Provide regular customer and market feedback to the company.
  • Represent Varian ethics, values, and business practices in all interactions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Lifesciences or equivalent (or Master’s degree with 3 years related experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with an oncology background (radiotherapist, medical physicist, or technologist).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with HR/ERP systems such as Workday is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Eclipse or Aria software is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of oncology customers, their requirements, and clinical challenges.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, teamwork, and independent working skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven selling skills and ability to close complex technical deals.
  • Experience working with matrix organizations and remote teams.
  • Good time and territory management skills.
  • Additional language (Zulu or Xhosa) is an advantage.
