Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a creative Architectural Designer in Durban to work on urban development projects, transforming complex urban concepts into tangible architectural designs.

You will contribute to master plans, detailed drawings, and presentations, collaborating with city planners, engineers, and consultants to ensure integrated project development in KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of architectural design experience with urban/planning focus.
• Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD and Adobe Suite.
• Solid understanding of urban planning principles and SA planning frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs and master plans for urban development projects.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, renderings, and client/public presentations.
• Coordinate with city planners, engineers, and consultants for integrated project development.
• Research and apply best practices in urban design and public space development.
• Contribute to design documentation including specifications and reports for planning applications.
• Assist senior architects and urban planners through project phases.

About the Role

You will be involved in projects that shape the city's landscape, translating complex urban concepts into tangible architectural designs. Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs and master plans for urban development projects.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, renderings, and presentations for client and public review.
• Coordinate with city planners, engineers, and other consultants to ensure integrated project development.
• Research and apply best practices in urban design, public space development, and landscape architecture.
• Contribute to design documentation, including specifications and reports for planning applications.
• Assist senior architects and urban planners in all project phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on urban planning or master planning.
• Proficiency in design software such as Rhino , Grasshopper, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
• Understanding of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and South African planning frameworks.
• Strong visual communication and graphic presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage project tasks effectively.
