Placements24 seeks diligent individuals to join as Apprentice Machinists in Upington, Northern Cape. This apprenticeship provides comprehensive training in operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce precision metal components.

You will learn to read drawings, set up machinery, select tooling, and perform precision cutting and shaping. We are looking for candidates with a keen eye for detail, strong mathematical skills, and dedication to producing

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with strong passes in Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Keen interest in precision engineering and manufacturing.
• Commitment to completing the apprenticeship program and obtaining trade certification.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate manual and CNC machine tools safely and accurately.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Set up machines, including selecting and installing cutting tools and workholding devices.
• Perform precision machining operations to create components according to specifications.
• Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with tolerances.
• Maintain machine tools and the work environment, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness.
