About the Role

Our client, a respected and established electrical contracting company operating in and around Durban , KwaZulu-Natal , is looking for motivated individuals to join their Apprentice Electrician program. This apprenticeship is an excellent pathway for individuals looking to enter the skilled trades and build a stable, long-term career. You will receive comprehensive on-the-job training from experienced, certified electricians, covering all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work. The program is designed to meet all regulatory requirements for becoming a qualified electrician, combining practical work experience with theoretical knowledge. You will be involved in installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, learning the critical safety procedures and technical skills necessary for success. This is a hands-on role requiring dedication and a strong work ethic, primarily based on various sites within the Durban metropolitan area and surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed electricians in performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Learn to safely use and maintain electrical tools and equipment.
• Pull wire, run conduit, and install electrical systems in new and existing structures.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues and identifying faulty components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
• Follow all safety regulations and protocols on job sites, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Participate in shop training and classroom instruction as required by the apprenticeship program.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper material management.
• Assist with load calculations and panel board installations.
• Conduct basic inspections and tests under supervision.

Requirements

• Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) with a strong background in Mathematics and Physical Science.
• No prior electrical experience is required, but a demonstrated interest in the trade is essential.
• Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labor, including climbing ladders and working in various weather conditions.
• Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation is highly advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions precisely.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
• Willingness to travel to various work sites within the Durban area and KwaZulu-Natal .
• Must be reliable, punctual, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
