Job summary

Placements24 is seeking candidates for an Apprentice Boilermaker program in the Richards Bay area. This hands-on apprenticeship focuses on boilermaking, welding, cutting, fitting, and blueprint reading within heavy industry and manufacturing settings.

Successful applicants will work under certified boilermakers, gain exposure to metal fabrication, and advance toward a trade qualification. A strong work ethic, safety awareness, and willingness to relocate to Richards Bay are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education with a pass in Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fabricating, fitting, and assembling metal plates and sections to construct boilers, tanks, and other vessels.
• Learn and perform various welding techniques (e.g., arc, MIG, TIG) under supervision.
• Operate cutting equipment such as plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Perform grinding, drilling, and riveting tasks as required.
• Assist in the dismantling and repair of existing metal structures and equipment.
• Understand and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Measure, mark out, and cut metal components accurately.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Participate in ongoing training and skill development sessions.
