We are looking for an experienced Anti‑Piracy Investigator to join our team and lead efforts in combatting digital piracy across South Africa and surrounding regions.

This role involves investigations into various types of content piracy, including cable, IPTV, and internet streaming, working closely with law enforcement, judicial authorities, and key internal stakeholders such as SuperSport, Showmax, and DStv Digital Media. With your strong network of connections and investigative experience, you will directly contribute to supporting our customers in the cybersecurity space across Africa. You will be instrumental in executing anti‑piracy strategies, including raids, litigation, undercover operations, and intelligence gathering. This is a highly independent role requiring a strong legal understanding, investigative acumen, and a proactive, strategic mindset. You will work with like‑minded, passionate investigators in a world‑class company. Ideally, this role is based in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support anti‑piracy operations such as raids, civil/criminal litigation, and digital investigations.
  • Investigate and address all forms of piracy related to broadcasting content.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and judiciary to drive legal action.
  • Monitor piracy trends, gather intelligence, and manage informer networks.
  • Maintain comprehensive case files and provide detailed reports, including monthly and ad‑hoc updates.
  • Conduct undercover operations and support covert data gathering.
  • Build and maintain relationships with judicial, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align anti‑piracy efforts with business priorities.
  • Represent Irdeto in court and at legal proceedings when required.
Ideal Qualifications
  • Proven investigative experience, preferably in law enforcement or forensic investigation.
  • In‑depth knowledge of South African legal frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes in South African courts.
  • Minimum NQF Level 6 Diploma in a relevant field or completed Detective Learning Program or Crime Resolution training.
  • Strong experience with report writing and legal documentation.
  • Experience in data collection and intelligence analysis.
  • Confidence and resilience under pressure; ability to work independently.
  • Strong relationship‑building and networking skills.
