Job description

Android Mobile Development Lead

An exciting opportunity has become available within the medical research industry for an Android Mobile Development Lead.

Our client is an impact‑driven digital health company passionate about affordable access to healthy hearing for everyone, everywhere.

The position is based in Pretoria. Direct reports are remote. The role offers 2 days work‑from‑home after successful probation, in line with Company Policy.

Responsibilities

Manages the team and the sprints, being responsible for communication, team health and culture.

Has authority over process, structure, scheduling, task assignment, and documentation.

Develops and maintains innovative hearing health platforms on the native Android platform (with a basic knowledge of iOS to manage the team), ensuring code is neat, accurate, scalable and in accordance with specifications.

Motivates employees and fosters win‑win agreements within the team.

Efficiently structures sprints and teams to partner together, allowing tasks to be completed faster and speeding up time to market.

Desired Experience & Qualification

BSc in Computer Science / Engineering or other applicable technical discipline.

Honors / MSc in Computer Science / Engineering or other applicable technical discipline (desirable).

7+ years working experience, including 2+ years of managing a team.

Hands‑on Android software developer responsible for development and maintenance of 1 or more projects.

Line management of iOS and Android developers.

Team culture coaching and development, project management, documentation.

Use sound engineering practices to build a solid product while iterating quickly.

Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
