Job summary

Discovery Limited is seeking a Senior Android developer for its Digital Channels team in Johannesburg. You will work across the project lifecycle from requirements and design to implementation, release and post-release support, delivering high-quality mobile applications.

You will collaborate with product managers and designers to craft great user experiences, analyze existing apps, and implement scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ year IT-related degree or diploma (BSc/BTech or similar).
• Have worked on multiple published apps in the Play Store.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain the deployed application software with high quality.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to ensure a successful, high-quality product and great user experience.
• Analyse, maintain and enhance existing application and troubleshoot issues with efficiency.
• Produce technical specifications and designs; participate in new business development through ideation and prototypes.
• Research new techniques, tools, and best practices and share knowledge with the team.

Key Purpose

Senior Android developer will support the projects throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, release and post release support .

• The system development life cycle and can explain the Java developer role in each stage
• Thedefined system development tools, processes and workflows
• Thedistinction between business, functional and non-functional requirements and how to implement them
• Theimportance of delivering high quality source code and how to achieve it
• Thetechnologies used and the systems components structure
• Thedomain and business terminologies and link them back to system implementations

Senior Android developers should be able to demonstrate that they can:
