Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in or National Diploma in Chemical / Industrial Engineering (Essential)
- Driver's license (Essential)
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- The candidate must be medically fit in terms the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Adhere to the group's health and safety rules
- Understand and comply to the group's health and safety standards
- Keep the laboratory and storage area clean and safe
- Assist supervisor in chairing safety toolbox meetings
- Housekeeping / inspections reports
- Participate in all health and safety campaigns
Duties and Responsibilities
- Registering and distributing samples for analyses.
- Perform all routine and non-routine analyses for incoming cement, aggregate and concrete samples.
- Responsible for testing and compiling proficiency testing report.
- Perform test on samples as per written Work Instruction.
- Calculate results from the analysis and interpret the results with respect to specific limits (if applicable).
- Validating test methods and equipment (i.e. Chemical, physical, aggregates and concrete).
- Ensure that all method / work instructions used are in accordance with ISO / IEC Laboratory Accrediting System.
- Participate or assist in any special project as instructed by Laboratory Supervisor and ISIC Management.
- Maintain good housekeeping by constantly tidying and organizing work area.
- Health and Safety Representative for Management, by ensuring, implement and maintaining health and safety.
- To ensure that employees work safely and take reasonable measure to protect his / her health, promote safe and healthy working practices.
- Lead and coordinate technical projects, Assist sales and marketing department with Competitor bench marking.
- Providing technical support to customers, Presenting results to senior staff and / or customers.
- Writing reports, reviews and summaries.
- Analyze samples as per written Work Instruction.
- Carry out research to develop new methods.
- Interpret the results and decide if the method works.
- Write Work Instruction once new chemical method has been developed.
- Perform all chemical and physical tests on all materials.
- Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by the Manager.
