Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas

The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department plays a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s strategic goals and objectives. ICS, in line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Analyst Programmer in the ICSS Applications Development and Support unit. To be part of a team responsible for the creation of robust applications and solutions from business requirements, the incumbent will be responsible for development, maintenance, and support of current and new applications and solutions. They will report to and take instruction from the Team Lead of the Business Systems Unit.

Key Role and Responsibilities
  • Participate in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) phases with a focus on development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications and solutions
  • Develop, maintain, and support existing and new applications and solutions based on business requirements
  • Ensure that solutions and enhancements comply with guidelines and best practices
  • Estimate the efforts involved for development and implementation and prepare Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as required
  • Provide 1st line incident response and resolution, or escalation
Minimum Requirements
  • Senior Certificate (NQF 4)
  • Relevant certifications
Minimum Experience
  • 2 years experience as a Software developer dealing with Microsoft technologies, specifically .Net
  • Demonstrable experience within a structured software development environment
Advantageous Requirements
  • A relevant NQF 6 qualification
  • iOS and Android mobile app development (not required)
  • Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Power BI Reporting
  • Data modelling and cataloguing
  • Angular, .Net Core, .Net 6.0 technology stack
